GreenGeeks is a solid hosting option for bloggers and small businesses, especially if you value beginner-friendly hosting and its eco-friendly approach. However, my experience also showed some limitations, particularly around renewal pricing and my Ezoic setup.
Choose GreenGeeks if: You want beginner-friendly hosting, free migration, solid features and an environmentally focused hosting provider.
Think twice if: Your main priority is the lowest long-term hosting cost or you rely heavily on an Ezoic setup similar to mine.
My Hosting Journey with GreenGeeks
I moved to GreenGeeks after leaving my earlier hosting setup as my websites began to require better performance and stability. GreenGeeks appealed to me because of its reputation for reliable hosting and its focus on environmentally responsible infrastructure.
I used GreenGeeks on live websites throughout 2022 and into 2023. While performance met my expectations, the higher renewal cost after the first year became the main factor in my decision not to continue long term.

My Experience Using GreenGeeks with Ezoic
While using GreenGeeks, my site was monetized with Ezoic. During this period, I experienced frequent site origin errors, which caused serious disruptions to site availability.
Initially, it was unclear where the issue originated. The Ezoic support team indicated that the errors were related to server-level restrictions, while GreenGeeks support suggested the issue was on the Ezoic side. This back-and-forth created confusion and downtime during a critical monetization phase.
After further investigation, Ezoic informed me that some of their IP addresses had been blocked at the server level. Once I contacted GreenGeeks support and requested that the IP addresses provided by Ezoic be whitelisted, the site origin errors were resolved.
During the period when the origin errors were occurring, a large portion of my site was affected. Around 60% of my webpages were deindexed, which had a noticeable impact on traffic and revenue. This experience highlighted how important hosting compatibility is when using third-party monetization platforms.
While GreenGeeks’ overall performance and general support were good, this experience highlighted the importance of hosting environments that work smoothly with third-party monetization platforms. The time and operational risk involved in resolving the issue became a factor in my decision to eventually move away.
Pricing & Renewal Reality
GreenGeeks’ initial pricing felt reasonable when I signed up, especially considering the performance and eco-friendly positioning. Getting started was straightforward, and the first year didn’t raise any cost-related concerns.
However, once the first term ended, the renewal pricing increased significantly. While this is common across many hosting providers, it became difficult to justify the higher long-term cost compared to my actual usage needs.
