How Does Google AdSense Work and Pay You?
Google has a product named Google AdSense, which allows bloggers, YouTubers, and website owner to earn money online.
Now you must be wondering how it works. Do not worry, here in this Google AdSense tutorial guide you will get the detailed and correct information that are needed to follow in the year 2026.
Let’s understand with a real-life example.
Suppose you have started a travel blog 7 months ago and your site is getting decent organic traffic from search engines. Now in order to monetize your site you would need to apply for Ad Networks which pays money online.
There are many publishing networks such as Ezoic, Ad Maven, and ADSTERRA, but the Jack of all trades is Google AdSense. The master of all the Ad Publishing networks is Google AdSense.
So before applying to any other Ad Networks, our recommendation is to Apply for the AdSense before shifting to others.
So, to earn money through Google AdSense, you would need to sign up for Google AdSense and have to wait for the approval. Once your AdSense account is approved your site will become eligible to show advertisement. When any visitor visits your blog or YouTube, and if they click to an ad, then Google pays you per click.

What Are the Requirements to Get Google AdSense Approval?
To get approved quickly, make sure your site has:
- 10–15 high-quality articles (1,000+ words each).
- No copied or AI-spun content.
- Privacy Policy, Contact, and About pages.
- HTTPS enabled (SSL).
- No adult, pirated, gambling, or illegal content,
- Easy navigation + mobile-friendly design.
You should also be able to verify site ownership or place AdSense code on your website. Google needs to confirm that you control the site where ads will appear.
How Google AdSense Makes Money and Pays Publishers
It is very simple; Google acts as a mediator between advertisers and publishers. It charges money from the advertiser through the Google Ads program and then displays their ad on the blogs and YouTube videos according to their business or niche. On the other hand, if any visitors click on the active ad, it pays some part (68%) of the money, charged from advertisers to the publishers and keeps rest of the parts (32%).

What Actually Affects AdSense Earnings?
Your AdSense income depends on:
- Traffic country
- Search intent
- Niche/topic
- CPC
- CTR
- Ad viewability
- Mobile vs desktop traffic
- Page speed and layout
- Seasonal advertiser demand
$5–$20 RPM — meaning $5–$20 for every 1,000 pageviews. The exact earnings depend on niche, country, traffic quality, and ad placement strategy.

Auto Ads vs Manual Ads: Which Should Beginners Use?
Auto ads are easier for beginners because Google chooses placements automatically. Manual ad units give you more control over where ads appear, such as after the intro, inside the article, sidebar, and near the end of content. For a new site, start simple, then test manual placements once you have enough traffic to compare performance.
